Why backorder an expired .CO.MA domain?

.CO.MA is the descriptive Moroccan domain intended for commercial organizations. It tells visitors that a site has a business purpose and a clear connection to Morocco. That makes it a practical choice for retailers, service companies, manufacturers, agencies and local branches operating in the country.

Many useful product, city and service combinations were registered years ago. When one expires, a backorder lets us monitor the name and attempt registration as soon as Registre.ma makes it available.

What .CO.MA is for

ANRT's official extension policy assigns .CO.MA to organizations with a commercial character. It is therefore more specific than the direct .ma extension.

  • Commercial identity: the extension states the site's business role without relying on a generic global suffix.
  • Moroccan context: customers can immediately see which national market the domain addresses.
  • Older inventory: an expired .CO.MA name may carry a useful history, but you should review its past use and links before bidding.

We also cover .org.ma for organizations and associations, and .net.ma for internet service providers.

Registration requirements

The holder must comply with the registry's category and naming rules. Registre.ma also requires an administrative contact who is a natural person established in Morocco. Contact details must be complete, accurate and kept up to date.

If the intended holder is outside Morocco, confirm the local administrative contact and any supporting information before placing the order. Our catch attempt is best effort and cannot bypass an ANRT eligibility or documentation requirement.

How expired .CO.MA domains are released

The registry identifies several states, including active, frozen, blocked, expired, terminated and deleted. An expired name is not yet free. According to Registre.ma's status definitions, availability returns only after the domain is deleted from the .MA zone and WHOIS.

  • The current holder may still resolve the expiry before deletion.
  • A blocked or frozen name remains registered even if DNS or updates are restricted.
  • The acquisition attempt is carried out through the appropriate registrar or registry channel.

Pricing and auctions

A .CO.MA backorder starts at €50. If only one customer ordered the domain and the catch succeeds, the price remains €50 before applicable taxes or registry-specific charges. Competing Backorders Domains customers enter a 7-day proxy bid auction.

Check the name before bidding

The registrant is responsible for avoiding conflicts with trademarks, company names and other protected rights. Review the domain's former content, backlink profile and reputation as carefully as its wording. A short commercial name is useful only when its history and legal position are clean.
