Why backorder an expired .NET.BR domain?

.NET.BR is one of Registro.br's generic commercial categories. It offers a Brazilian identity with a “net” label that can suit online services, infrastructure brands, hosting projects and technology businesses, provided the holder meets the registry's general rules.

The pool is smaller than .COM.BR, which can make a concise expired .NET.BR name an interesting alternative when the matching commercial domain is unavailable. A backorder tracks the registry process and prepares the acquisition attempt for the correct release window.

.NET.BR is a generic commercial category

Unlike Morocco's .NET.MA category, Brazil's .NET.BR is not described as a restricted namespace for internet service providers. Registro.br lists both .NET.BR and .com.br in its generic commercial group.

  • Broader use: eligible people and companies can use the category for commercial activity.
  • Brazilian signal: the domain remains clearly tied to Brazil and Portuguese-language audiences.
  • Alternative inventory: useful labels may be obtainable here even when their .COM.BR counterpart is not available.

Registration and holder requirements

Registro.br allows a domain holder who is a natural person or legal entity legally represented or established in Brazil. Brazilian registrations use valid CPF or CNPJ data. Foreign legal entities must follow the registry's specific procedure, appoint a legally established representative in Brazil and provide the required documentation.

Applications with inaccurate or inconsistent holder data can be refused or penalized. Confirm the eligible holder and representation details before the release window; catching the name does not override those checks.

How deleted .NET.BR names are allocated

Registro.br can place names removed for non-renewal, cancellation, invalid registration data or other listed reasons into its scheduled release process.

  • Candidates submit requests during the official application period.
  • A name with one eligible candidate can be assigned after outstanding requirements are settled.
  • Multiple candidates can lead to a registry competitive phase based on successive financial offers.
  • Some unresolved names remain held and move to a later release round.

This is different from a conventional drop with one universal deletion timestamp. The acquisition attempt is carried out through the appropriate registrar or registry channel. Every acquisition remains best effort.

Pricing and auctions

A .NET.BR backorder starts at €50. A successful single-customer acquisition remains €50 before applicable taxes or registry-specific charges. If several Backorders Domains customers ordered the same name, our 7-day proxy bid auction determines the winner. Registro.br's own competitive process, when applicable, is a separate registry stage.

Technical and legal checks

Inspect previous DNS, mail use, archived content, backlinks and blocklist history before bidding. Check trademarks and company names too. Disputes over qualifying .BR registrations can be handled through Registro.br's SACI-Adm system, so a technically attractive expired name still needs a clean rights position.
